Journalist and blogger Kirill Pavlov has filed a complaint with the Astana Police Department against Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, Orda.kz reports.
The complaint concerns the Minister’s remarks about domestic dairy production.
I filed a complaint against Minister of Agriculture Saparov with the Astana Police Department over the dissemination of deliberately false information that Kazakhstan is 100% self-sufficient in dairy products. I am asking the Presidential Administration to take this under its control, Pavlov wrote.
He cited data from official statistics and international databases. According to him, in 2024, Kazakhstan imported 183,000 tons of milk and dairy products worth $410.7 million. Imports account for 48% of the cheese and cottage cheese market and 15% of the butter and dairy products market.
In early June, Pavlov — the author of the Telegram channel Kazakh Chuvash — lost a lawsuit in Astana brought by the Republican Methodological Center for Phytosanitary Diagnostics and Forecasting.
The Ministry of Agriculture had accused him of publishing false information about a locust infestation in the Jambyl region.
