Jetisu Official and Energy Company Director Fined Millions For Bribery Over Rate Hike

In the Jetisu region, a court has sentenced Arman Sagymbekov, head of the Department for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies, for accepting a bribe. Also convicted in the case was Aibek Kuzembayev, director of the Taldykorgan Transport and Power Grid Company, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Anti-Corruption Agency (Antikor), Kuzembayev paid Sagymbekov a bribe in exchange for approving inflated electricity rates.
The official received 500,000 tenge from a representative of the energy company in return for approving an increased electricity transportation rate for the population in 2025, the agency stated.
Sagymbekov was fined 15 million tenge, while Kuzembayev received a 10 million tenge fine. Both are now banned from holding positions in public service or quasi-state organizations.
