A Jambyl Regional Court heard a case on the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl and illegal abortion.
Five people are in the dock: the school administration, a psychologist, and doctors. Most received prison terms, while an appeal reduced one sentence.
The crime took place in November 2023 in Saudakent. A 12-year-old boarding school student became pregnant.
The perpetrator was the husband of the district Maslikhat deputy Galina Moroz. According to Orda's insider information, the man had intimate encounters with the girl at least three times, which was confirmed by an ultrasound scan.
She later had an abortion but did not see the doctor's face. The deputy announced her intention to divorce.
The first verdict in the case was handed down six months ago. The main defendant was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The other defendants have been convicted and found guilty under several articles of the Criminal Code: failure to report a particularly serious crime, illegal artificial termination of pregnancy, and organization and aiding in a criminal offense.
The court made the following decisions:
- Laura Nurmakhanova, the director of the boarding school, received two years.
- The school's deputy director, school psychologist, and nurse were each given three years of restricted freedom and were banned from engaging in these professional activities.
- Yerkebulan Kozhabekov, an obstetrician-gynecologist, was sentenced to one year.
The details are not being disclosed since the trial was held behind closed doors.
Later, the lawyers of the convicted doctor filed an appeal, and the prison term was replaced with a restriction of freedom.
The decision has entered into legal force.
