The head of the land management department of the Jambyl region was found guilty of fraud and incitement to bribery. According to the court, he tried to deceive an entrepreneur into handing over money by promising to help return a land plot, Orda.kz reports.
The court determined that the official, D.M., conspired to extort money from the businessman. He offered to “resolve” the land issue in exchange for payment, despite having no legal authority to do so.
In January 2025, D.M. met the victim at the intersection of Koigeldy and Askarova streets in Taraz, where he received one million tenge. He was detained on the spot by Anti-Corruption Agency officers.
D.M. fully admitted his guilt. His actions were classified under Part 3 of Article 24, Part 3 of Article 190, and Part 4 of Article 28 – Part 2 of Article 367 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Code.
The court sentenced him to three and a half years in a medium-security facility. It permanently banned him from holding positions in the civil service, judiciary, or other state bodies.
The official was escorted from the courtroom under guard.
D.M. had previously worked as a chief specialist at the Jambyl regional office of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs and Anti-Corruption.
