The deputy head of the Jambyl regional police department, Zhaidarbek Kuttybayev, has been detained, sources told Orda.kz.
He oversaw personnel matters in the department.
The Interior Ministry later confirmed the arrest:
He was detained by the Internal Security Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He is suspected of unlawful actions and is currently in a temporary detention facility. On August 29, Kuttybayev was dismissed from service on negative grounds. Anyone who violates the law and the oath will be identified and held accountable, the ministry stated.
Last fall, Jambyl’s police leadership underwent sweeping personnel changes after an internal inspection led to the dismissal of nearly the entire senior staff, including the chief and several deputies.
Kuttybayev was appointed deputy chief during the reshuffle.
