Hamas has freed three Israeli hostages who were captured during the October 7, 2023 attack. In exchange, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners overnight between January 19 and 20, reports Orda.
The Israeli news outlet Ynet reports that the released Palestinians had been imprisoned for various offenses, including misconduct an terrorism-related charges.
Among those freed were 69 women (including one minor), eight minor boys, and 13 men. Seventy-eight of the released prisoners returned to the Gaza Strip, while 12 went to the West Bank.
This exchange is part of a broader agreement in which Hamas committed to releasing 33 hostages in the deal's first phase.
At the same time, Israel agreed to free approximately 2,000 Palestinians, including 1,000 Gazans who were detained after October 7, 2023.
