Iran launched a wave of ballistic missiles at Israel late on June 13 in retaliation for Israeli strikes on more than 100 targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities, Orda.kz reports.
Explosions were reported in Tel Aviv and other cities. The IDF confirmed roughly 100 ballistic launches from Iran, with defense systems attempting interceptions.
Defense systems are working to intercept the threat. Residents are asked to take shelter and remain there until further notice, the IDF said.
Israeli airstrikes hit Iranian sites, including uranium facilities in Natanz and Isfahan. Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization confirmed only “superficial” damage. Iranian officials reported at least 78 killed and over 320 injured in Israeli attacks, claiming most were civilians.
Other reports have indicated high-ranking military officials among the casualties.
Israel’s operation, dubbed “Rising Lion,” aims to cripple Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure. Iran responded with “Truthful Promise 3”, targeting Israeli airbases and the Kirya military complex in Tel Aviv. According to Israel’s emergency services, at least 4 people were killed and over 70 were injured.
Amid the tensions, Ayatollah Khamenei said:
“The Zionist regime will not remain unscathed. Our response will not be partial.”
PM Netanyahu called on Iranians to rise against their regime:
“It’s your chance to stand up and let your voices be heard.”
Both sides continue exchanging missile strikes. The U.S. confirmed prior knowledge of the Israeli operation, and diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway.
The United States is taking part in intercepting Iranian missiles in Israel.
