Iran Warns UN Sanctions Will Halt Cooperation With IAEA

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council has responded to the UN Security Council’s decision to reimpose sanctions, Orda.kz reports, citing Tasnim.
The sanctions were initiated by the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, who accused Tehran of violating the 2015 agreement to halt nuclear weapons development.
Despite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' cooperation with the IAEA and the presentation of plans to resolve the problem, the actions of European countries will effectively suspend cooperation with the agency, the Supreme National Security Council said, as quoted by Tasnim.
The UN Security Council voted last Friday to reimpose the measures.
Nine members — including the United States, the UK, and France — supported the move, while Russia, China, Pakistan, and Algeria voted against.
The sanctions are set to take effect on September 26 unless Iran and the European countries reach an agreement before then.
