Iran Suspends Cairo Nuclear Agreement

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi explained Tehran's suspension of its cooperation agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), known as the Cairo Agreement, Orda.kz reports.
Speaking on state television, Araghchi said the deal “has lost its effectiveness” following new actions by the UK, France, and Germany to restore UN sanctions on Iran.
He added that any future IAEA requests will be reviewed by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, effectively placing oversight of nuclear cooperation under national security authority.
The Cairo Agreement, signed on 9 September 2025, had outlined a framework for renewed inspections and technical collaboration between Tehran and the IAEA.
