Iran supports the principles set out in the declaration between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, Orda.kz reports, citing IRNA.
According to him, the document reflects three key points: respect for the sovereignty of countries in the region, preservation of territorial integrity, and the inadmissibility of changing borders.
These principles fully align with Tehran’s official position. However, the official statement cautions against foreign presence in the region:
The Islamic Republic of Iran also “expresses concern over the negative consequences of any foreign interference in any form, particularly near common borders, which could undermine regional security and sustainable stability, the statement reads.
The minister also stated that the issue of creating a “corridor” is closed — the discussion is solely about a transit route.
Earlier, Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Iran’s supreme leader, said Tehran will not allow the creation of a U.S.-backed corridor in the South Caucasus.
