Authorities are still investigating the fall of an unidentified object with engines in the Atyrau region near the Russian border, Orda.kz reports.
Residents of Qonyrterek village said the object crashed in the steppe, leaving behind a scorched circle. They noticed smoke before finding scattered metal fragments that appeared to be parts of a device.
That day, police officers, emergency services and representatives of the Akimat arrived in the village. No one was hurt, but of course we were scared. There is the Azgyr site in our region and many thought that it should have fallen there, and not near our village,
a local resident said.
An interdepartmental commission is conducting a full inspection. Experts are analyzing the wreckage to determine the object’s origin.
The regional Akim, Serik Shapkenov, has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
