The investigation into the causes of the AZAL plane crash is expected to be completed by the end of the year, Orda.kz reports.
The final report will be ready in a few months, Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev announced at a government briefing.
He shared some findings from the ongoing investigation. External fragments and objects of unknown origin were discovered in the aircraft’s fuselage. These items were fully collected by the investigative task force and transferred to the Prosecutor General’s Office for explosive analysis.
We are waiting for the results of the examination. It is on the basis of the examination that we will be able to draw a conclusion about what happened,
Bozumbayev explained.
A decision was also made to reconstruct the fragments of the aircraft's second hydraulic system. Additionally, the examined modular avionics unit is to be sent to the American company Hannover International, the system’s developer.
In May, a Kazakh commission visited Grozny and Rostov-on-Don to inspect air navigation infrastructure.
Any conclusion will be made on the basis of forensic and explosive examinations. After all, we know when the object was damaged, but we don’t know how. To answer this question, we need at least these two examinations – explosive and forensic. Unfortunately, there is no such equipment in Kazakhstan,
Bozumbayev added.
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Kazakhstan has already sent all necessary inquiries to other countries. The final report is anticipated by the end of the year.
