Interior Ministry Reports New Finds of Weapons Stolen During January Events

On September 5, law enforcement detained five residents of Almaty Region who were storing weapons stolen during the January 2022 unrest, Orda.kz reports.
The Interior Ministry said that since September 1, authorities have uncovered 12 caches of weapons and ammunition across the country, seizing cartridges and explosive devices.
In illegal circulation were six units of weapons stolen during the January events, as well as police equipment, service body armor, and helmets, said Zhandos Batyrbekov, deputy head of the criminal police department.
Earlier, it was reported that in the first months of 2025, the National Security Committee (KNB), together with police and prosecutors, confiscated 12 assault rifles, 41 pistols, 75 shotguns, 36 grenades, and 1,603 rounds of ammunition.
In total, the KNB has recovered 608 weapons stolen in January 2022.
