A video showcasing Kazakhstan’s landscapes has appeared on Instagram’s official feed, and the platform even followed the author — a rare move, Orda.kz reports.
Instagram shared a video by Kazakh videographer Dastan Mukhamedrakhim, showing him running through Kazakhstan’s flowering fields to the song “Golden Hour” by JVKE.
Within just 11 hours, the post had received more than 630,000 likes.
The social network not only featured the video but also followed Mukhamedrakhim’s account. While Instagram has 696 million followers, it follows only 275 people, including Lady Gaga, Kylian Mbappé, Donatella Versace, Benson Boone, and now Dastan from Kazakhstan.
Mukhamedrakhim is known for short drone videos of himself running through the country’s scenic landscapes — from mountains and sunflower fields to the lakes of Burabay and the Mars-like terrain of Mangystau.
Three weeks ago, when I was recording that video and asking you about it, I couldn’t believe it myself. Even now, it’s hard to fully believe. Three years ago, when I had just 5,000 followers, I first started filming content with a drone. Who would have thought that with just a drone, you could reach such a level — a global scale?
he wrote on his account.
He added that his goal is to spread positivity:
“Right now, our feeds are full of negativity, gossip, and bad news. Let’s instead share positive things — support and spread good news.”
The video’s repost drew thousands of reactions, including from singer Dimash Qudaibergen, who commented “kzkzkzkzkz” followed by a heart emoji.
A few days earlier, another of Dastan’s videos appeared on Turkish Airlines’ official page, which highlights global creators and destinations through user-generated content.
Kazakhstan’s diverse natural beauty — from the Tien Shan Mountains to the Qyzylkum Desert, and nature reserves like Altyn-Emel and Bayanaul — continues to inspire photographers and travelers.
Experts, however, note that environmental awareness in the country remains low and that urban isolation often weakens people’s connection to nature.
