Information about Nazarbayev's Health to Become State Secret
On December 12, senators approved in the second reading the draft law "On Amendments and Supplements to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the State Educational Accumulative System, the Elimination of Excessive Legislative Regulation in the Spheres of Information, Social Development, Culture and Archives, Orda.kz reports.
In particular, it amends the law "On State Secrets."
Among other things, it includes information on methods of ensuring the security of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and members of his family, as well as the health and personal life of the President as state secrets.
The same applies to ex-presidents.
In addition to classifying information about the organization, forces, means and methods of ensuring the security of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and members of his family, about the health and personal life of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan as state secrets in the field of intelligence, counterintelligence, operational-search and other activities, an addition is being made to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan 'On State Secrets' to also include similar information about ex-Presidents of the Republic of Kazakhstan and members of their families, says the conclusion to the bill.
These amendments were not previously discussed in the Majilis. They were initially added to another bill.
