Environmental police officers uncovered illegal extraction of a sand and gravel mixture on the Balakta River in Taldykorgan, Orda.kz reports.
A loader being used for the extraction was detained at the scene. The work had allegedly been carried out without permits. The equipment was taken to a specialized impound lot, and materials have been collected for further proceedings.
Police said illegal extraction causes serious environmental damage. Since the beginning of the year, about 20 such violations have been recorded in the Zhetysu region. The authorities said work in this area is continuing and urged citizens to comply with environmental legislation and protect the environment.
