Illegal Migration Channel Uncovered in Turkistan Region

Police in Kazakhstan have detained a group accused of organizing illegal border crossings in the Turkistan region, near the border with Uzbekistan, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Interior Ministry, the group charged migrants 500,000 tenge each to facilitate unlawful entry into Kazakhstan. During searches, officers seized foreign passports, falsified documents, electronic media, and communication devices.
Four alleged organizers and several suspected accomplices are now in pre-trial detention. Criminal cases have been opened under charges of “organizing illegal migration” and “intentional illegal crossing of the state border.”
