An Oskemen resident filed a lawsuit against the government over the country's transition to a single time zone, Orda.kz reports.
He demands that the corresponding resolution be recognized as illegal. The Minister of Trade and Integration, Arman Shakkaliyev, commented on the situation — his department bears responsibility.
He noted that it was unknown who would be the defendant.
Of course, the right to judicial protection is a constitutional right. This is natural. I would not make some kind of sensation out of this. There is litigation, there are procedures. If the claim is collective, the government determines who will represent the interests of the government. If it is determined that we will represent, we will follow the procedure, prepare a response to the claim, an explanation. If another authorized body - then there is a statutory regulation for this. We follow these procedures within the legal framework, Shakkaliyev said at a government briefing.
He also reported that the Oskemen resident is not the first to try to sue the state.
There were two more lawsuits regarding the time change, but they were not accepted due to procedural violations.
