An Oskemen court sentenced employees of the regional department of the penal system to freedom restriction, Orda.kz reports, citing Antikor.
The former deputy head of Institution No. 17 and the senior inspector were found guilty of embezzling 5.8 million tenge. The employees provided false information to the housing commission about the absence of real estate to receive payments, which was revealed during an investigation.
The court's decision sentenced both to three years and six months of restricted freedom.
From now on, they cannot hold government positions or work in the quasi-government sector — a structure created with the state's participation. In addition, they have been stripped of the ranks of major and lieutenant of justice.
Earlier in October, a Qaraganda region penial system employee received a year and a half in prison for torture.
