Minister of Labor and Social Protection Svetlana Zhakupova has condemned a question reportedly asked during a job interview at Freedom Bank, Orda.kz reports.
A Kazakhstani woman recently shared on social media that she was asked during an interview:
"We hope you won’t have to get (your - Ed.) tubes tied. You’re not planning to go on maternity leave next year, are you?"
Journalists raised the issue with the Minister during a session in the Senate, asking whether such wording was acceptable from an employer.
It’s horrible and completely unacceptable. And my recommendation is to contact government agencies first. To do this, she must first submit an official complaint, and we will follow up on it,Zhakupova said.
Zhakupova also emphasized that everyone has the right to protection from discrimination and violations of labor laws.
