Heavy Smoke Documented in Oskemen Industrial District

On May 19, heavy smoke was reported in the industrial zone of the Sogra microdistrict in Oskemen, near the titanium-magnesium plant, Orda.kz reports.
A video circulated on social media showed dense, dark smog hanging over the area.
Environmental specialists arrived at the scene. According to the Department of Ecology, air quality measurements revealed chlorine levels exceeding the maximum permissible concentration.
The city administration stated that the situation is under the supervision of regional authorities. No immediate public health or safety risk has been identified, but all relevant emergency and specialized services have been placed on high alert.
Residents have been advised to limit outdoor activity, keep windows and doors closed, and stay hydrated.
