Funds intended for public healthcare services were misused through the systematic submission of false medical reports in Oskemen, according to the Anti-Corruption Agency, Orda.kz reports.
Investigators found that medical services listed in the Damumed system had not been provided, with over 30,000 false entries identified.
In addition, he is suspected of illegal participation in the entrepreneurial activities of a private medical institution and the laundering of stolen funds from the Fund, including through the acquisition of expensive property,the agency stated.
The suspect, reportedly a deputy chair of the Social Health Insurance Fund (FSMS), was taken into custody with court approval. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the possible involvement of other individuals in related offenses.
Further details have not been disclosed due to the ongoing inquiry.
The agency had previously confirmed the existence of a criminal case in March but did not name the official involved.
