The deputy announced on his Telegram that the government has supported the relevant amendments to the Tax Code, Orda.kz reports.
The list of medical services and medicines subject to a 0% VAT rate will be approved by a special government decree.
I won't hide that initially our position was even broader: we insisted on a complete exemption from VAT for all medical services and medicines. However, the government opposed it. During the discussions, such a compromise was found. The most important thing is that it will help avoid a sharp increase in prices for our citizens,
the Majilis deputy wrote.
Askhat Aimagambetov also noted a “smooth transition” for other services and medicines that will still be subject to taxation. Beginning in 2026, the VAT rate will be 5%, and it will remain at this level in 2027.
Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova had previously addressed the VAT exemption for medical services and medicines under the State Fund for Free Medical Care and Compulsory Medical Insurance.
