The Kazakh government has allocated approximately 250 million tenge from its reserve fund to complete the reconstruction work on Arqalyq’s heating infrastructure in the Qostanay region, reports Orda.kz.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov signed the corresponding resolution.
Arqalyq’s thermal power plant services 375 buildings and is classified as a high-risk heat source due to severe network deterioration. The city’s heating network spans 34.7 kilometers, most of which was commissioned in 1990. Currently, wear and tear stands at 48%, reaching up to 82% in some areas, resulting in 24–29% energy loss during the heating season,
the government said in a statement.
The second phase of the city's heat infrastructure reconstruction began in 2023.
17 kilometers of pipeline have been replaced, with an additional 9.9 kilometers scheduled for renewal in 2025. The project is being carried out in stages and is expected to reduce overall network wear by 12% upon completion.
Arqalyq has a population of approximately 38,400 residents.
