A court has ordered former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and former head of the Special State Protection Service Teimuraz Janashia to pay 9 million lari to the state budget, Orda.kz reports, citing NewsGeorgia.
The ruling is part of the so-called “jacket case”, which involved charges of large-scale embezzlement of state funds by a group of officials abusing their positions.
Saakashvili was previously sentenced to nine years in prison on these charges, while Janashia was fined 300,000 lari.
Following that, the state initiated a civil claim to recover the funds.
