Georgia Dream Announces Suspension of Work in PACE

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a significant resolution on Georgia, calling for early parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners.
It has also imposed restrictions on Georgian Dream party representatives, Orda reports, citing Civil Georgia.
PACE ratified the resolution on January 29.
In response, the Georgian delegation announced it would withdraw from the organization.
On November 28, 2024, when the European Parliament refused to recognize Georgia's parliamentary election results and called for sanctions against Georgian Dream leadership.
The same day, Georgia's Prime Minister announced that the country would cease European Union accession negotiations by the end of 2028.
This declaration sparked the ongoing protests across Georgia that have continued for over two months.
