Eight gang members are on trial in Shymkent, accused of serious crimes, Orda.kz reports.
They are charged with extortion, unlawful confinement, weapons possession, and intentional infliction of serious bodily harm. Among the defendants is 35-year-old Dauir Taukeev, known as a close associate of crime boss Arman Dzhumageldiev (Wild Arman).
Almost nothing is known about the other defendants except Bekasyl Shynzhyrbekov. According to available information, he is a professional boxer and successfully participated in competitions.
The court database does not contain any details of this case, but we found an interview with a person who is likely a victim.
He anonymously appeared on the YouTube podcast of Shymkent blogger Aigul Orynbek. He shared how Dikiy Arman's people allegedly extorted money from him for two years.
My friend and I used to resell cars. One day, a man came to us and offered to buy his house. We said that we had no money and offered to take the cars in exchange. But he refused, saying that he needed cash. He could not sell this house for 35 million tenge, and told us to buy it for 42 million. We could not refuse this deal, since this man was from the group of Wild Arman, and in case of refusal we risked our well-being. he said.
According to him, the amount demanded constantly grew:
I tried to escape from them, but they found me in Almaty and said that I could not hide from them, saying that they had connections in the authorities. They kept me in an apartment for two months, beat me and forced me to find money. At some point, I managed to escape, through friends I contacted an investigator at the Yenbekshinsky District Department of Internal Affairs, he agreed to listen to me and promised to accept my statement. He said that he was on holiday and suggested meeting at night in the parking lot of the maternity hospital on Nursat. We met and talked. And as soon as he left, several cars drove up to me, in which Arman's people were sitting.
The man who identified himself as Baglan also spoke about Dauir Taukeev, one of Wild Arman's closest associates.
The main hearing, scheduled for February 4, was postponed several times due to the absence of witnesses.
On February 19, the judge of the specialized inter-district criminal court of Shymkent Zhanibek Seitzhapbarov tried to start the trial for the fourth time.
Still, the witnesses again failed to appear for an unknown reason. The judge ruled that they would be brought in next time.
Orda.kz will continue to monitor the developments.
In 2020, Dauir Taukeev was arrested for a shootout in a Shymkent restaurant, in which a person died. But his lawyers achieved acquittal.
