Police in the Ulytau region uncovered theft schemes at Kazakhmys facilities, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Interior Ministry, one group led by local criminals stole ore alloys with a high content of precious metals. All members of the group were convicted.
Police also discovered the illegal removal of fuel from the company’s territory. Investigators believe fuel and lubricants were written off through fictitious refueling of special equipment and forged documents.
During searches, officers seized more than a ton of fuel, money, cars, weapons and ammunition. Security staff were involved in the scheme.
The amount of damage is still being determined.
