Four Religious Extremism Suspects Detained in Astana

All detainees are Kazakhstan citizens. They are suspected of promoting terrorism, recruiting supporters, and participating in extremist activities, reports Orda.kz.
According to the KNB, the suspects were sought by prosecutor's offices in Astana, Qosshy, and the Aqmola region.
During searches, religious materials and other evidence were seized from the detainees, with details not specified by the committee.

Pre-trial investigation of the detainees is ongoing under Articles 256 - propaganda of terrorism or public calls for terrorist acts, 259 - illegal manufacture, processing, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, and 405 - organization and participation in activities of a banned association of the Criminal Code, the statement says.
No other case information is being disclosed.
Earlier this month, NSC officers detained three people suspected of extremism in Almaty, Aqtobe, and Jambyl regions.
The suspects were charged with promoting terrorism.
