Former Presidential Spokesman Becomes Abay Region Akim

By presidential decree, Berik Uali has been appointed governor of Abay region, Orda.kz reports.
Uali, President Toqayev's press secretary, is a native of the Abay region. He has degrees in film studies, journalism, and law.
His career spans major media outlets (1997-2012), including Tan, NTK, Channel 31, Khabar, and Kazakhstan TV. He twice served as Toqayev's spokesman (2019-2022, 2023-2024), with a brief stint leading the Khabar Agency.
He has also been Toqayev's advisor.
The Abay region was created in 2022.
Meanwhile, Ruslan Zheldibay has been appointed the president's advisor and press secretary, replacing Uali.
Zheldibay was released from his previous role as a presidential aide for domestic policy and communications.
