A criminal case has been initiated against Bauyrzhan Abdubaitov, former president of the Ordabasy football club, Orda.kz reports.
According to investigators, Abdubaitov signed player contracts that included large bonus payments without approval from the club’s board of directors. This led to what authorities describe as unjustified budget spending totaling 2.3 billion tenge, according to the Shymkent Prosecutor’s Office.
As part of these suspicions, a criminal case was opened under Article 362 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (abuse of authority). The case was transferred to the Anti-Corruption Service for pre-trial investigation,
the supervisory body stated.
A second investigation has also been launched under Article 361 (misuse of budget funds). It concerns 1.2 billion tenge allocated for Ordabasy’s participation in the second round of the Conference League, part of which was allegedly used to pay bonuses and settle tax debts.
