Well-known Russian political scientist and former associate professor at Maqsut Narikbayev University, Ekaterina Schulmann — who has been designated a foreign agent in Russia — has been added to Rosfinmonitoring’s registry of terrorists and extremists, Orda.kz reports.
Her name appeared in the list under number 18493.
In July of this year, the Meshchansky District Court in Moscow ordered Schulmann’s arrest in absentia for two months for failing to comply with the obligations imposed on foreign agents. The investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 330.1 of the Russian Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of up to two years in prison.
Schulmann was first added to Russia’s foreign agents registry in 2022. In March 2025, she was also declared internationally wanted. However, the search did not last long — her information disappeared from public databases the following day.
Ekaterina Schulmann taught for some time at Maqsut Narikbayev University in Astana. However, the university has stated that her contract was terminated on August 1, 2024.
After the start of the war in Ukraine, Schulmann moved to Germany. She runs her YouTube channel and continues giving lectures in different countries.
