Bolat Baishuakov, former head of the Kazakh Gas Processing Plant LLP in Janaozen, has been sentenced to prison, Orda.kz reports.
The Janaozen District Court in the Mangystau Region found Baishuakov guilty of large-scale misappropriation of the plant’s property. According to the investigation, he used his official position to sell equipment from the plant without conducting a mandatory auction and appropriated the proceeds.
The court sentenced Baishuakov to four years and imposed a lifetime ban on holding positions in the civil service or quasi-public sector.
The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
Earlier, Orda.kz reported that Baishuakov had been detained on suspicion of embezzling 65 million tenge. His arrest was part of a broader anti-corruption campaign launched last winter following widespread personnel changes within the KazMunayGas group of companies.
