Former chair of the board of Volkovgeologiya, Dinmukhamed Moldasi, will stand trial for the theft of 86 million tenge, Orda.kz reports.
The case of embezzlement from JSC Volkovgeologiya was investigated by the Financial Monitoring Agency’s department for the Almaty Region.
According to investigators, Moldasi carried out the scheme over two years by submitting falsified certificates of work performed.
The documents reflected the delivery of spare parts from LLP Kazburmash SK, which in fact never existed. Based on forged documents, the company transferred more than 86 million tenge, which were then appropriated. During the investigation, the damage was compensated, the agency said.
Moldasi will soon appear in court.
Other defendants in the case have already been convicted: the head of LLP Kazburmash SK, the director of Volkovgeologiya, and the company’s accountant received sentences ranging from three to seven years in prison.
JSC Volkovgeologiya is a subsidiary of Kazatomprom, specializing in drilling wells and uranium exploration.
Little is known about Moldasi personally. Born in Taraz, he studied at KIMEP, Pennsylvania State University, Moscow’s National University of Science and Technology “MISiS,” and the Swiss Business School in Zurich.
He worked in finance and construction before joining Volkovgeologiya in 2015, where he became chair of the board in May 2019.
