Flour Dust Explosion at AsiaAgroFood Plant Leaves Four Dead

Recently, flour dust ignited in an explosion at the feed mill of JSC AsiaAgroFood. Four employees were injured in the incident. None survived, reports Orda.kz.
One worker died on the spot, while three others were hospitalized in serious condition at Qarasay Central District Hospital. Two succumbed to their injuries shortly after. The fourth passed away on May 27.
Sources report that one was 59 years old. He worked as a grain elevator foreman and had been employed at the plant for 39 years.
The plant’s management extended condolences to the victims' families and loved ones.
In addition to the insurance payments mandated by law and our existing corporate programs, the company will provide additional financial support to the families of the deceased. We will cover all funeral expenses and fully settle any outstanding debts of our late colleagues. Each family will receive psychological and legal support, as well as personalized assistance as needed,
stated the board of directors of JSC AsiaAgroFood.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The plant has also launched an internal audit of all technological and production operations.
According to the Emergency Situations Department, the explosion was caused by a dust-air mixture of grain waste on the first floor of the second elevator’s nine-story building.
The fire affected an area of 1,377 square meters.
