Flooding has been reported in several areas of the Aqmola region due to rising river and groundwater levels, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Department of Emergency Situations, the situation remains under control, but in some villages, water has already reached residential properties and surrounding areas.
In Zerenda, 14 sites were affected, including seven uninhabited houses, as a result of rising lake and groundwater levels. To stabilize the situation, 180,000 cubic meters of water were pumped out and 260 tons of inert material were delivered.
In Telmana, Atbasar district, the Ishim River overflowed, flooding 12 plots. To prevent water from reaching homes, emergency teams constructed protective barriers of 3,000 sandbags around each yard. Over 100 heads of livestock were relocated in advance to safer areas.
In the village of Aqana Kurmanova, a sharp rise in the Ishim River on April 9 caused the Qashqarqa River to overflow. By April 10, water had reached residential areas, flooding four houses. Special equipment and motor pumps were deployed to manage the situation.
There is no threat of flooding in Atbasar itself. The level of the Jabay River is 3.3 meters,
the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Local residents say that, despite official assurances, things are tense.
