In Abay, a 15-year-old girl was forcibly given "in marriage" to a 38-year-old man by her stepfather. After five days of sexual abuse, the girl was able to escape, Orda.kz reports, citing NeMolchi.kz.
According to the foundation, the girl ran away to her biological father, and they immediately reported the incident to the police.
But, as usual, the report wasn't accepted nor sent for examination. We assume that they are dragging out time. After our intervention and support from the juvenile police, the girl was sent to Qaraganda for an examination. However, the investigator accompanying her filled out the paperwork incorrectly, so she was sent back without being examined. And again, more time needed, the foundation stated.
According to NeMolchi.kz, the man and his associates are currently waiting outside the girl's father's house, intimidating and threatening him despite his weak heart. Meanwhile, the police are ignoring the situation.
Later, the press service of the Qaraganda Region Police Department reported that the 38-year-old suspect, accused of committing a crime against the 15-year-old girl, had been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
The statement was received by the police on March 15, after which a criminal case was immediately initiated. The necessary examinations are currently being carried out as part of the investigation. Psychologists are working with the minor victim, the press service of the Qaraganda Region Police Department reported.
The Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights stated that the victim would receive full legal assistance along with psychological support.
The regional commissioner for children's rights is in contact with the father and has also called for the stepfather and mother to be held criminally responsible. The Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights remains closely involved in the case and is taking all necessary measures to protect the child’s rights, the department added.
