Fire Service Committee Chair Convicted of Bribery
The Aqmola garrison military court sentenced Derbisov, chair of the Ministry of Emergency Situations fire service committee, and Shymkent Zhaksibaev, head of the Emergency Situations Department, to five years in prison. The head of the regional emergency department, Zhetysu Izbasarov, received nine years. Antikor reports this.
The defendants were found guilty of receiving bribes totaling 39.7 million tenge from a business person for patronage. The Anti-Corruption Service added that Izbasarov was also convicted of abuse of power: he illegally awarded himself 1.7 million tenge.
They have been deprived of the right to work in the civil service and quasi-public sector entities.
The sentence has not yet come into force.
