Fire-Damaged Orphanage Building to Be Fully Repaired Within Three Months

After a fire at the Perzent Foundation orphanage, 29 children remain temporarily housed in a sanatorium building, Orda.kz reports.
According to Children’s Rights Commissioner Dinara Zakiyeva, who visited the site, six children were taken home by their parents, while the rest will soon be relocated to another Perzent Foundation building that is being prepared for long-term residence.
Zakiyeva noted that the new facility is closer to the local school, making it easier for children to attend classes.
She also requested that toys be brought to the children.
The building where the fire occurred is planned to be completely renovated within three months. All necessary conditions for the temporary accommodation of children at the sanatorium have now been created,
she wrote.
The fire broke out on November 9 in the cafeteria of the orphanage in Almaty’s Nauryzbay district, covering 1,000 square meters and causing the partial collapse of the roof.
All 35 residents were safely evacuated, and no one was injured. The children have been provided with food, clothing, hygiene products, and sweets.
