Feminita Founder Fined Following Disrupted Gatherings

On February 19, a trial was held against one of the founders of the Feminita organization, Gulzada Serzhan, Orda reports.
On February 13 and 14, members of the Kazakhstan Parents Union disrupted the "School on Human Rights" training sessions conducted by the organization Feminita.
The first time, Bagila Baltabayeva accused feminists of promoting LGBT and using USAID money, after which she called the police. The Feminita founders, Gulzada Serzhan and Zhanar Sekerbaeva, were brought to the police station to write an explanatory note.
The second time, Parent Union members attempted to force their way into a subsequent gathering.
Today, February 19, a hearing was held regarding Gulzada Serzhan.
She was charged with administrative article 489, part nine of the Code of Administrative Offenses, "Management of The Activities of Unregistered Public Associations, as well as Associations whose Activities Are Suspended or Prohibited."
The punishment entails a fine of one hundred MCI - 393 thousand 200 tenge.
Gulzada Serzhan was found guilty and will have to pay a fine. On Friday, February 21, the trial of Zhanar Sekerbaeva will be held.
In the fall of 2024, "Parents' Union" members also tried to disrupt the "Lesbian Kurultai" in Almaty.
