The farewell to legendary Kazakh cosmonaut Talghat Musabayev took place at the Officers’ House, followed by a memorial event in the Park of 28 Panfilov Guardsmen, Orda.kz reports.
Speakers at the event included Kazakhstan’s first cosmonaut Toktar Aubakirov, Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev, Defense Minister Dauren Kosanov, and State Counselor Yerlan Karin, who read a letter on behalf of President Qasym‑Jomart Toqayev.

Several hundred people came to pay their respects, among them Kazakhstan’s third cosmonaut Aydin Aimbetov, former and current members of the Senate and Majilis, fellow servicemen, and friends.
Although Musabayev’s title of “Halyq Qaharmany” entitled him to burial in the National Pantheon, he will be laid to rest in Almaty — a decision made by his family, Orda.kz learned.
