IBM Gold, a firm headed by Bolat Mynbayev, former chief of the Presidential Property Management Department’s Directorate of State Residences, has drawn prosecutors' attention after being accused of mining gold and silver without the required permits, Orda.kz reports.
According to the Pavlodar Regional Prosecutor’s Office, IBM Gold has been operating in the Bayanaul District since early 2025 without an environmental permit. The agency said it would take “appropriate measures, including procedural ones,” in response.
Prosecutors identified 11 other companies involved in illegal mining, citing violations such as operating outside licensed areas or extending contracts unlawfully. However, IBM Gold was specifically named in the official release.
Mynbayev, who previously oversaw presidential residences, is one of ten co-founders of IBM Gold. Other shareholders include Serik Abdygaliyev, owner of SA Minerals, and Kyrgyz businessman Takhirzhan Baratov.
Media previously reported that in 2017, IBM Gold obtained access to waste from the Maikayinskaya enrichment plant under questionable circumstances — allegedly signing a contract before the company was formally registered.
