European Investment Bank to Open Regional Office in Uzbekistan

An agreement to establish a regional office of the European Investment Bank (EIB) in Uzbekistan was signed in Samarqand in the presence of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and European Council President António Costa, Orda reports, citing the Uzbek President's press service.
The new EIB office in Tashkent is expected to boost investment in green energy, innovative industry, and infrastructure across Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
The EIB is already co-financing several major projects in the country, including €1.5 billion in support of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor.
It also provided $83.6 million for solar plants built by Masdar, and helped finance a 100 MW solar station by Total Eren in the Samarqand region.
