Erdoğan Calls for Diplomatic Solution to Russia-Ukraine War

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the need for diplomatic negotiations between Russia and Ukraine during an online meeting organized by the European Union, Orda reports, citing the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communications.
(Russia-Ukraine) For the sake of a fair, lasting, and honorable peace, we emphasize the importance of a solid diplomatic ground where both warring sides will be at the table, President Erdoğan stated.
The Turkish leader also called for immediate steps to reduce hostilities as a pathway toward peace.
We advocate the cessation of aerial and maritime aggression as a confidence-building measure between the parties as well as establishing an urgent ceasefire, he added.
He also spoke about mutual security interests with the EU:
We believe that planning all steps for European security together with Türkiye will be in our mutual interest, Erdoğan emphasized, stating there's no need to exlude Türkiye from European Union's defense products procurement and reconstruction programs.
