Minister of Education Gani Beisembayev has said there are no plans to close classes taught in Russian, Orda.kz reports.
Responding to a question on the topic at a government press conference, he stated:
I will say right away that there are no such plans, because the class is chosen by the parent, so classes are opened by choice. Now, according to statistics, there are more people wanting to teach their children in classes with the Kazakh language of instruction. This is such a trend, that is why there are more (classes with Kazakh as the language of instruction. – Ed.). The state does not have any special plans or programs for opening or closing.
Beisembayev emphasized that the ministry’s top priority is to ensure quality education.
