Starting next year, the price per thousand cubic meters of gas in West Kazakhstan Oblast could rise from 3,655 tenge to 9,630 tenge — an almost threefold increase, Orda.kz reports, citing Uralskaya Nedelya.
Public hearings were held in Oral, where QazaqGaz Aimaq presented a draft new tariff for gas transportation in the region.
Company representatives explained that the proposed increase is linked to higher costs for materials, repairs, and network maintenance, as well as the implementation of an investment program.
For now, this remains only a draft. If approved, the new rates will take effect in the spring of 2026, when the state moratorium on tariff increases expires.
QazaqGaz Aimaq is a subsidiary of the national company QazaqGaz, which oversees Kazakhstan’s gas transportation infrastructure.
Previously, Kazakhstan introduced a moratorium on price increases for gasoline, diesel, and utilities. The measure, initiated by the president as part of an anti-crisis plan, prohibits utility rate hikes until the end of the first quarter of 2026, except for cases involving pre-approved repairs.
