Majilis deputy Yerlan Sairov posed questions to Zhenis Yelemesov, deputy chair of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Financial Monitoring, about the country’s cybersecurity during a September 24 session, Orda.kz reports.
Sairov pointed out that 965 million cyberattacks were recorded in Kazakhstan in the first quarter of 2025, with more than 3,500 targeting critical infrastructure. He also noted ongoing attempts to create informational tensions on social media.
Kazakhstan is constantly being subjected to cyber and information attacks. These attacks are actually financed by someone. It's possible that the criminal money you're looking for is being funneled there,Sairov said.
The deputy asked how the new agreement would help counter such threats.
Yelemesov explained that the newly established International Center would collect practices from participating countries and compile national risk assessments.
If, for example, national risk assessments reveal threats in a particular sector in one country and another, the center will analyze these operations. Its task is to highlight the corresponding risks for each state, he noted.
