Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Yermek Kosherbayev, has shared plans for changes in how local budgets are formed, reports Orda.kz.
Speaking at a plenary session of the Council for Interaction with Local Representative Bodies, Kosherbayev noted that the mineral extraction tax has already been redirected to rural districts.
Now, four more types of payments are set to follow:
We’re planning to transfer four additional revenue streams to the local level. These include a portion of the property tax paid by legal entities and individual entrepreneurs, fees for the use of water resources, license fees for certain types of activities, and charges for the use of licenses. Thus, this move will effectively triple the own-source revenues of rural areas.
Kosherbayev also mentioned that the government is working to streamline budget procedures, aiming to cut the time required for budget adjustments from two months down to just two days.
