On Saturday, January 25, it was announced that Kazakh journalist and producer Dana Ormanbayeva had been placed on an international wanted list, Orda.kz reports.
The Almaty Police Department stated that their investigative unit is investigating a criminal case related to inciting ethnic discord.
The court has sanctioned detention in absentia as a preventive measure. Additionally, the suspect has been placed on an international wanted list, the city police department's press service informed.
Dana Ormanbayeva responded to the news on Instagram.
I will say one thing and the most important thing: I am not an instigator of ethnic discord. All my Russian friends, partners, and allies know this well. For many years, I have only been defending people, children and families of Kazakhstan, asking nothing in return. And now because of this fabricated and completely made-up case, I am being prosecuted, she stated.
In April 2024, police opened a criminal case against Ormanbayeva due to her social media statements.
She currently lives abroad, reportedly in Dubai.
