Customs Officer in Jambyl Region on Trial for Bribery

A customs officer in the Jambyl region is facing trial on charges of bribery, Orda.kz reports.
According to investigators, the lead specialist at the "Taraz-CTO" customs post is accused of accepting large sums from logistics companies in exchange for assistance with cargo clearance.
“From 2022 to 2023, she allegedly earned 7.5 million tenge through this scheme,” sources familiar with the case told Orda.kz.
The official from the State Revenue Department is being prosecuted under Articles 190 and 366 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan — "Fraud" and "Bribe-taking."
Investigators are currently reviewing additional episodes, which may involve other customs officials as well as those who paid bribes.
"Taraz-CTO" is a regional customs post under the jurisdiction of the State Revenue Committee in the Jambyl region.
